Ancient Greek Civilization

Try to imagine if in this world there is no science. Of course, you also can not enjoy technological advances.

Just to the point, there will be no long-distance communication tools, no democratic country system, no doctors who can help you when you’re sick, even if you don’t have the ability to think critically.

Mycenaean Civilization

This civilization started from 1600 BC and ended in 800 BC. Mycenaean itself is taken from the name of a city called, Mycenae. Today the city is part of France.

In Mycenae, there used to be a fortified palace which was the seat of King Agamemnon who led the Greeks in the Trojan War.

During this period, the Ancient Greeks began to learn about various arts and skills, such as the ability to build gates and also make gold masks.

This period was indeed a time when the art of building was very advanced. Many of our people are skilled engineers who have been able to design and build bridges, fortress walls, beehive-shaped tombs, and complex water absorption systems.

This stone bridge made during the Mycenaeans is also the oldest bridge in the world because it existed around 3000 years ago.

Archaic Civilization

After the Mycenaean civilization ended and had entered a dark era where for several hundred years there was no written evidence at all to know how the Ancient Greeks lived at that time, the Archaic civilization entered.

This period of civilization spanned from 800 BC to 500 BC.

At this time, historians began to be able to study the socio-political conditions of the Ancient Greeks again, Friend Zenius. It was found that the Ancient Greeks began to form colonies called polis and trading posts.

Classical Civilization

Then we enter the era of classical civilization in 500 BC to 323 BC. Also called the golden age of Ancient Greece.

You know, this period of civilization is very special, you know. Why? Because it was during this time that the first democracy was born in Athens. Where the people have a big role in making government decisions.

In fact, to realize democracy, an assembly was formed to gather thousands of male citizens in every decision-making discussion. Is it currently still applicable? I have discussed the answer before, when talking about the types of direct democracy in an article entitled „Knowing the Types of Democracy“. Just check it out, OK?

Hellenistic Civilization

This civilization is probably the shortest, which is only about 300 years from 323 BC after the death of Alexander the Great to 31 BC.

Even though in previous civilizations Alexander the Great had succeeded in expanding his empire to India, but after his death the kingdom was then split into three dynasties which were then led by individual kings and don’t forget to visit our site to get other interesting information by visit us
