The "New" submenu in the Windows context menu only includes a few entries, allowing you to create bitmap images, contacts, RTF files, text documents, shortcuts, and folders. Depending on the applications you installed over time, and whether they featured system integration or not, you may have more or fewer items available.
It's possible to alter the content of this menu by altering the system registry, but a third party application is a much convenient solution. Although it does not offer you the freedom to add custom items, JasTek.net's Programmers Extensions provides a package that can enrich the context menu in Windows with a few entries that programmers will surely find useful.
Once installed, you can navigate to the "New" entry in the Windows right-click menu and you will surely observe that more items are available. To be more specific, with JasTek.net's Programmers Extensions installed, you will be able to easily create batch files (BAT), HTML documents, JavaScript and registry (REG) files, as well as Visual Basic scripts (VBS).
Clearly, most programmers would like to have more context menu items to allow the fast creation of files but, unfortunately, these five items are the only available options.
As a final note, please keep in mind that this application has not been updated in a while and it might not work properly with some of the most recent Windows iterations.
