How do you change file permissions for specific users in Ubuntu 10.04?

I have a folder /foo/bar with a number of files (and maybe a sub-folder) which I want to restrict to read-only for a particular user.
If the permissions are 755 or 775, it’s easy enough to set those using the command line (i.e., chmod) or the GUI equivalent. However, how can I restrict those permissions to a particular user, without excluding the group and everyone else (i.e., 777, etc.)?

I’d use setfacl:
sudo setfacl -m u:someuser:r /foo/bar

Also, if you want a recursive effect, use:
sudo setfacl -m u:someuser:r -R /foo/bar

Finally, if you want to exclude the group, but include everyone else, use:
sudo setfacl -m u:someuser:r /foo/bar:g=

To make this effective, you’ll need to run this as root.

Do a simple find for files that should be readonly.
find /foo/bar -type f -perm 755

Exclude owner and other and make it rwxr-xr-x
