I’ve been playing this for 4 hours and it’s still fun, if a bit frustrating and repetitive after that long. The graphics are both beautiful and ugly at the same time, the soundtrack is wonderful, and the overall gameplay mechanics are a little confusing. Also, there’s no items, so you’ll have to spend most of the game with nothing but your back up sword, which is really annoying. My advise would be to start over, and see if you can get a little more in the way of gifts for your points before you start combing towns and dungeons.

Thought this game looked really good from the trailers that came out a while ago. It doesn’t look bad at all on the PS3 and it may be my favorite looking RPG that I’ve played yet. My only problem with it is that there are no quests that you have to do. The story is what you want, and I think it is very good and engrossing. It gets repetitive very fast and unless you get some gifts when you visit town you won’t be able to do any questing. Once you get the really good equipment and weapons to be able to do some quests you might enjoy the game more. The graphics are very good, but the frame rate can be really choppy. It is definitely a beautiful game and something I’d recommend if you’re interested in taking a different look at the RPG genre. If you want to do questing you’ll probably want to be prepared to start over or see what some people have posted below. You can still receive gifts from visiting towns, and I think if you keep yourself from picking them up the story goes on, but I think you get more by hunting down monsters or questing.

The gameplay was a little repetitive, but the graphics and music were fantastic. The new system of having to gather an amount of points to use the next area has a negative effect because you start out with a very high point quota, so it takes time to get everything on the main quest line done. If you like RPGs, this is a game that you want to play. You also want to give it a couple of playthroughs before making any decisions.
